Of course, Nimoy was launched to worldwide fame when he was cast as another alien in 1964. The actor played Spock, the Starship Enterprise’s human-Vulcan first officer renowned for his semi-pointed ears and distinctive hand salute, in Star Trek for five years on the small screen. He also portrayed the character in eight movies and numerous spin-offs.
